We are two friends that work together to lovingly raise quality "Baby Doll Face" Coton de Tulears and gorgeous Mini Schauzers. With a combined experience of over 30 years, we are dedicated to providing puppies with lovely temperaments and healthy lines. We raise our puppies in our homes where they receive the important socialization and care necessary to raising exceptional puppies with strong bonding instincts.
 Coton de Tulears and Miniature Schnauzers--Our breeding journey began the Airedale and Mini Schnauzer. After much research into hereditary and genetic issues associated with many purebred dogs, we decided to look for a breed with fewer health issues, a larger gene pool, and a hypo-allergenic coat for families with allergies. The Coton de Tulear fits that criteria! Their windblown, cottony coat and happy go lucky personalities make them a wonderful choice for many families. Our puppies have the adorable "Baby Doll Faces" that will melt even the coldest heart! We love our Cotons and so does everyone that meets these darling little charmers from Madagascar.Anita has been breeding Miniature Schnauzers for over a decade, with gorgeous coats and champion lines, her Schnauzers have lovely personalities and looks! They are very intelligent and perfect for families with allergies.

Family Friendly Breeds

 We take pride in our breeds and work toward excellence in health, integrity, disposition, and stature. Our babies are raised in our home, underfoot, around children, other dogs, and cats. We ensure ALL our puppies are extremely socialized and secure by exposing them to the daily goings-on of our home. No worries for our adoptive families in exposing their new puppies to the sounds of a vaccuum, dishwasher, TV, radio, door bell, or other animals or children--- I have done it for you already! These puppies are very happy and accustomed to every day life in a family home. NEVER are any of our puppies raised in a kennel. Puppies are our business, and ours are raised with the best of care. We continue to study and re-educating ourselves in canine health and welfare. To us, our babies are a precious responsibility, and nothing short of the best is what we strive for in our breeding program.

After searching for months for a breeder that we thought would provide a good first start for our puppy, we were thrilled to find A Breed Apart! They welcomed us to come visit their home and we found the dogs to be well cared for and their home warm and inviting.
We appreciated the fact that the dogs are their pets, and a part of the family. I felt the waiting list was very straight forward and understandable. We liked that we were able to choose our own puppy, as opposed to many other breeders that go by personality testing alone and they pick for you. Anita also considers the date of the application as well, and allows her families to be a part of the choosing process. Julie also was very quick to respond to all of our emails, even after we had our puppy. She obviously cares a great deal about her families and her puppies, and I would recommend A Breed Apart to anyone interested in receiving a beautiful little ball of fluff of their own. Our Coton, Lizette is a joy and absolutely the best dog I have ever owned. She is happy and bouncy, smart and wonderful with everyone she meets. She passed her kindergarten class with flying colors, and was easy to housebreak. Her only problem is she wants to go home with every person she meets, she is our wecome wagon on four legs! Our vet is amazed at how sweet natured and healthy our little one is, and has even referred others to A Breed Apart.
